The Tree House
The Tree House, a Ripley's Believe It Or Not attraction, is one of the oldest tourist "must see" features on the Redwood Highway located 20 miles South of Garberville. The tree has a burned out center large enough for a small gift shop where you can stand inside the tree and look up at the burned out center while the tree lives on in apparent good health. |

Richardson Grove State Park
A group enjoys the Redwood Forest at Richardson Grove State Park 9 miles South of Garberville, considered one of the most visited parks in the system. It boasts camping, a store, hiking trails and swimming in the Eel River. |

One Log Cabin
Hollowed out in 1946 from a single log, the Famous One-Log House was created from a redwood tree over 2100 years old! This section alone weighed 42 tons. It took two men eight months of hard labor to hollow out a room 7 feet high and 32 feet long. Enough chips came out of it to build a five-bedroom house! This special log home includes living, dining, & bedroom areas just like any other trailer or motorhome. This Northern California redwood attraction has been a longtime popular attraction to young and old alike. |

Humboldt Redwoods State Park Located along the Eel River in northern California, Humboldt Redwoods State Park contains some of the world's most majestic ancient redwood groves. The park encompasses over 53,000 acres, including 17,000 acres of old-growth coast redwoods. |

Benbow Lake
To provide power for the new development in the valley, a concrete dam was constructed across the south fork of the Eel River in 1928. The dam not only provided power but also created Benbow Lake. Today the park consists of campsites and a large day-use picnic area. Hiking, picnicking and camping are popular summer time activities, while salmon and steelhead fishing are popular in the winter. |

Avenue of the Giants
This world-famous scenic drive is a 31-mile portion of old Highway 101, which parallels Freeway 101 with its 51,222 acres of redwood groves. It is by far the most outstanding display of these giant trees in the entire 500 mile redwood belt and is accessible to all with convenient services provided along the way. Attractions within the Avenue of Giants include Chandelier Tree, Grandfather Tree and Redwood Tree House. The Avenue of the Giants is surrounded by Humboldt Redwoods State Park which has the largest remaining stand of virgin redwoods in the world. Take time to picnic, camp, hike, swim, fish, raft or bike ride in the cool hush of these ancient redwood forests. |

Chandelier Tree
The Chandelier Drive Thru Tree, one of two Redwood drive-thru trees. This tree is 25 miles South of Garberville, take Highway 1 turn off at Leggett Valley. The second is The Shrine Tree, 20 miles North of Garberville. Both have gift shops. No trip through the Redwoods is complete without a stop at one of these wonders. Both are only a short distance off the freeway.
Part of the Avunue of Giants, the Chandelier Tree in Drive-Thru Tree Park is 315 feet tall. More importantly its 21 foot diameter allows visitors to actually drive their cars through it. |

Black Sands Beach / Shelter Cove
This is a large, mostly west-facing, black sand beach with offshore reefs just north of the town of Shelter Cove. Black Sand Beach is a picturesque and relaxing. The black sand that covers the beach and has given the spot its name is very unusual. There are offshore reefs in this area that can create peeling lines of consistent and well-shaped surf. |
